Advancing practical yoga through physiology, research awareness and disciplined technique.
Department of Human Anatomy
The Department of Yoga & Physical Culture - I develops the student's practical foundation into a more analytical understanding of yogic techniques. The syllabus examines rules and precautions for asana, pranayama, mudra, bandha and kriya; the differences between yogic and conventional physical exercise; and the short- and long-term physiological effects of practice on the musculoskeletal, respiratory, cardiovascular and nervous systems. Students study Surya Namaskar, prana and nadis, major pranayamas, cleansing techniques, meditation, concentration and relaxation, together with published physiological research. Practical training emphasises correct sequencing, progressive practice, teaching observation and the ability to identify contraindications. The department also introduces broader discussions on yoga, consciousness, science and religion while maintaining a strong focus on safe, regular practice.
Students Learning Outcomes
✔ Demonstration of intermediate yogic techniques with correct sequencing and precautions
✔ Comprehend selected physiological effects of yoga using research-aware language
✔ Differentiate yogic practice from general physical exercise
